Butterflies are a symbol of hope, joy and change in many cultures and religions. In some first nation stories the butterfly is a symbol of rebirth and for Christianity the butterfly symbolises resurrection.
Clearly mankind has been fascinated by the butterfly for millennia. In this sculpture the butterfly lands on the upward palms of a female figure. Perhaps communicating a message, perhaps symbolising luck. Or maybe its just resting delicately in a convenient place.
