Description
The male version of a Caryatid, an architectural figure holding up columns. I am playing with the ideas of columns removed from architecture, Caryatids removed from context. The old romantic notion of the sculpture being freed from the block of stone.
This is also a stunning piece of Rosa aurora marble from Portugal, sitting on a small limestone base for stability. I would like to keep this for myself!
